Last week, Danon visited Miami-Dade County to speak to community leaders about these issues and asked for their support as the end of the building freeze approaches on Sept. 26.
"The prime minister promised me that on Sept. 26 we will continue to build and I know there will be pressure coming from other directions, from within the government and from the outside and I put a lot of effort to make sure the building continues because I think it was a wrong decision to put the freeze," he said. "We did not receive anything in exchange and when the freeze is over, we will see the pressure to extend it."
"They [local leaders] would like to see more dialogue and a connection with Israel," he added. "There's also a very strong Israeli community that's reviving in Miami. I also think there is more openness here to the Likud ideals that I represent."
Jonathan Daniels, Danon's senior advisor, also feels that he was well-received in Miami.
"Danny does a lot of work with the Jewish people and some of the Christian people," Daniels added. "He's very well-received among the different communities. He does a lot of important work and he spreads the important message of Israel and that message is getting more involved in Israel."
