For the past year Mt. of Olives has been the site of increased stone-throwing against Jews trying to reach the cemetery, specifically by the elementary school which is located near the entrance to the cemetery. MK Danny Danon recently toured the new police post, which was instated following his request.  Many taxi drivers refuse to drive people who want to visit the graves of their loved ones without a security escort.  Danon said that “this is a symptom of the lack of security on the mount and that [it will continue] until there is a serious presence, not just of police, but also of the public.”  He added that “the challenge is to bring people here to the graves. The moment there’s a mass of people here it will be different.”
